Highway 130, Keaau to Pahoa and lower Puna District

A side trip on highway 130 leads to the town of Pahoa and the lower east rift zone and south flank of Kilauea volcano. This side trip takes about a half-day.

From Pahoa follow highway 132 to the east. Lava Tree State Park, about 3 miles (5 km) from Pahoa, has excellent examples of lava trees.
