Long ago in the city of Tenochtitlan, Mexico lived an Aztec Emperer, his wife, and their three sons. Franktitl and his twin Fredtitl were spoiled rotten by their mother and father. But, poor, little Popocatepetl wasn't even given a second thought. Popocatepetl, a.k.a. Popo, was in love with a girl named Ixtlaccihuatl,or as he called her Ixtla. When Popo asked his father if he could marry Ixtla the Emperor said, "Not at all! Now get out of here and don't ever come back or ever see that girl Ixtlaccihuatl again!!" Popo was FURIOUS at his father, but Ixtla was more so upset, than mad! You see, Popo knew that if it were Frank or Fred his father would have said yes in a heartbeat, because Ixtla was from a very wealthy family and was a well-known princess across Mexico. But the Emperor didn't want his ugly son, Popo, to marry a gorgeous woman when his brothers were much better choices. Ixtla thought that Popo was very handsome so, they decided to elope. But, before they go any farther than the Valley of Mexico, they were caught. The warriors who caught them said to them they either come with them or else they would die. They said they would rather die together than live alone. So, as the warriors were told by the Emperor himself, they put Popo and Ixtla on stakes and burnt them to death; then the warriors put rocks over them in a pyramid shape, Popo's bigger than Ixtla's. Since, Popo was so mad at his father, every so often you can see steam coming from the volcanoe of Popocatepetl, as if he is simmering (really mad)!!
