Is there anything on the surface of the earth that lava can't melt?

rocky Ben, Robby, and John

Hi Ben, Robby, and John:

Sure there things that lava can't melt. For example, stainless steel, concrete, already-cooled lava. The temperature of flowing basalt is usually around 1170 degrees C or less. Anything that you find that has a melting point above that will be able to withstand melting by lava. I'm sure there are many more examples than I have given you.

Sincerley,

Scott Rowland
