Where does the name MAGMA come from?

Hi Brad,
I didn't know the answer so I looked it up in the fattest dictionary I
could find. It said: "...akin to Greek MASSEIN to knead..." I guess it
has something to do with kind of looking like gooey bread dough?
That's not much of an answer but it was all I could find.
