Hi, I wanted to know that in a typical lava flow, would a rock with small holes or larger holes be formed closest to the surface of a flow?

Dear reader,

In general, there are more gas bubbles near the top of a lava flow. I think the larger bubbles would be near the top. Geologists call the bubbles vesicles.
