What is or was the longest continuous eruption ever?

rocky Benny

Dear Benny,

Some geologists have suggested that Stromboli in Italy has been active for 5,000 years. They know with a higher degree of certainty that Stromboli has been active nearly continuously for 2,000 years. This long history of eruption is why Stromboli is refereed to as the Lighthouse of the Mediterranean.
