Volcanoes are erupting all the time. Every month's issue of the Smithsonian's Global Volcanism Network contains reports from 20-30 different volcanoes. For some of these the eruptions are essentially continuous (such as Merapi and Kilauea), whereas for others the eruptions only occur on average once a year, 10 years, 100 years, etc.
