Could ash from a volcano turn a town's water supply acidic?

rocky

Hi ,

Probably not . . . the increase in acidity is the result of sulfur mixing with water to form sulfuric acid. And so, some volcanic ash contains large amounts of sulfur, but it would have to fall on a water supply open to the air and the sulfur would have to dissolve into the water.
