How large of a volcanic eruption would it take to cover the entire world with volcanic material?

rocky

Hi ,

The largest known eruptions are those from Yellowstone, which produced blankets of volcanic ash across much of central North America. An eruption that could blanket the entire world would have to be much greater than even those eruptions of Yellowstone.

It is questionable whether an eruption of such a large magnitude could occur. But, if it did, it would take years . . perhaps centuries . . . to clear the atmosphere and the ground surface.

Sincerely,
John Dvorak
