HOW MANY ACTIVE VOLCANOES ARE THERE IN THE U.S.A.

Hi Lucille,

There are at least 186 volcanoes in the US. I got this number by counting entries in Volcanoes of the World by Tom Simkin and Lee Seibert. This includes Alaska and Hawai'i. If you count the now mostly-submerged volcanoes that make up the leeward isles northwest of the main Hawaiian islands there are probably at least 30 more.
