What is C-STATUS? I noticed this in the note on Long Valley Caldera.

Dear Harmon,

It took a little searching but I found what C-STATUS means! We have a link at the bottom of VolcanoWorld's Long Valley page to one of our earlier Long Valley pages, which links to the US Geological Survey's homepage on Long Valley. Buried within their pages is an explanation of the status catagories. Check out:

C- status means there is "strong unrest" and the State Geologist of California should be notified. It also implies that an eruption is not expected for "months to years." Sorry that it took me a while to answer this, but the fellow who normally answers questions was away at a week long meeting, and I was overwhelmed with questions!
