AmyA Plinian eruption produces large volumes of ash and is often associated with caldera collapse. They tend to produce ash flows. They usually are recognized by the presence of ash and pumice and the presence of a flat plain or broad flat shield and a caldera. Co-ignimbrite means it happens as the ash flow (also called a pyroclastic flow or ignimbrite) moves down the flank of the volcano. Column and plume refer to the ash eject above a volcano.
