When you explore the cave, be
prepared. You will find complete darkness, a temperature of 42 degrees
F., a slight breeze, and water dripping from the ceiling.
You should bring along a hat, a
jacket, long pants, sturdy footwear, a primary and back-up light source,
extra batteries and bulbs, a camera with a flash, and a trash bag.
The upper cave entrance has
created a few exciting moments for visitors. Adjacent to the upper
entrance is a skylight that illuminates the cave's floor.
Sometimes people walking
through the cave have mistaken it for an exit. Before long, they find
themselves perched on a lava ledge waiting to be rescued.
Look for the steel ladder to find
the correct exit.
A surface trail connects the
upper and lower cave entrances.
