Some victims of Vesuvius's 79 A.D. eruption. These skeletons were all found
in a boathouse on what was at the time the shoreline below Herculanum. They
had fled there in an attempt to escape the pyroclastic flow. Note the
positions of some of them - hugging each other, etc.
