Seismicity was 5-fold above background levels and eruptions containing significant amounts of tephra initiated. The volcano's glacier is a concern for the surrounding area the volcano as melting may cause catastrophic flooding. The volcano remained at an Alert Level Yellow.

From April 9-11, increased seismicity and volcanic activity was reported. Pyroclastic material, fumarolic activity and newly created cracks in the ice cap were observed. The Alert Level was raised to Yellow.
