About These Lessons
These lessons consist of Lesson at a Glance, Key Concepts, Lesson
Outcomes, Background, Teaching Suggestions, and Useful References.
Lesson at a Glance is a brief summary of the lesson. Key Concepts are
the main ideas described in the lesson. Lesson Outcomes are what a
student will learn by completing the lesson. Background is the
background information on the specific topic. In general, the background
information is organized from simple and introductory to more complex and
in greater detail. The depth at which a you delve into the information
depends on the your experience, education level, and curiosity. For
example, an elementary school student/teacher might read only the first
few paragraphs. A high school student/teacher might read all of the
background. After reading the Background, go to the Activities and
Teaching Suggestions. They include activities and demonstrations that
reinforce the content of the lesson. All activities (K-12) are listed
consecutively to facilitate comparison. Note that each activity is
labeled for the recommended grade level (K-3, 4-6, 7-8, and 9-12). Some
activities are accompanied by diagrams, which follows the text for that
specific activity. The lesson concludes with an option to view Useful
References, a list of books and articles about this topic.
